Job Summary

  •  This company is seeking a highly skilled Production Chemist to inform and assist supervisor about relevant activities, problems relating to operations, process conditions, instrument control, and safety system.
  • This would include standardization and specification of chemical injection/storage facilities, fluid sampling piping arrangements, and laboratory facilities/equipment.
  • The individual will be involved in providing a comprehensive service including problem assessment, solution identification, validation and treatment monitoring for optimum technical and commercial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with relevant site operations team to troubleshoot process and integrity issues.
  • Carry out routine analysis of injected, produced and treated fluids and gas.
  • Engage in applications and monitoring of chemical treatment programs directly influencing integrity of process equipment, flow assurance and product quality.
  • Ensure proper handover during shift change and communication to all relevant parties, offshore and onshore.
  • Maintain auditable records of sampling, analyses, procedures and equipment calibrations.
  • Maintain an accurate and auditable record of production chemical use and discharge.
  • Provide support for oilfield specialty chemical product, applications and service.
  • Effectively manage the asset’s chemical managementsystem.
  • Provide troubleshooting of production system by checking and adjusting chemical injection rates.
  • Identify and notify mechanical failures with the chemical delivery systems.
  • Ensure that all appropriate HSE systems are adhered to.
  • Maintain chemical inventory records and recommending system/treatment improvements where necessary and providing functional specifications for systems upgrade.
  • Carry out laboratory analysis of crude oil and produced water.
  • Monitor safety system status and maintain high standard of safety practices in the execution of daily work, and always follows HSE’s established procedures.
  • Handle Emergency shut down and startups with minimum loss of Yield.

Requirements 

  • B.Sc / B.Eng in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • At least 5 years experience in Production Chemistry.
  • Practical post NYSC experience with development, application and optimization of all common production chemicals
  • Must have field experience with bottle-testing Demulsifier/Deoiler chemicals on site, to assist with process optimization.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be diplomatic and display high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Must be proactive and have a sound understanding of current lab/field safety and environmental practices for chemicals/process fluids, and common effluent discharge quality limits.
